Dr. Jaime Combariza Appointed PARCC’s inaugural Executive Director of the Penn Advanced Research Computing Center (PARCC)

The PARCC project is excited to share the appointment of Dr. Jaime Combariza as PARCC’s first Executive Director, starting April 1, 2025.

Jaime brings extensive expertise in computational chemistry and high-performance computing, with a distinguished career spanning multiple leading institutions. He has led research computing initiatives at Miami University, Dartmouth College, Brown University, and most recently, Johns Hopkins University, where he directed the Maryland Advanced Research Computing Center (MARCC). His leadership has driven significant advancements in HPC infrastructure, data-intensive computing, and machine learning.

Jaime has secured major funding for HPC, including a $4M NSF MRI grant, and has played a pivotal role in deploying advanced computing systems like Rockfish, a 45,000-core cluster supporting diverse research projects.

In addition to his administrative and leadership roles, he remains an active researcher, with contributions to transition metal complexes, solvent-solute interactions, and computational NMR methods.

We are thrilled to welcome Jaime to Penn and look forward to his impact on our research community.
